As many of you know (or are about to find out), the guys in Waking Ashland disbanded over the past summer and went on to tackle new and exciting projects. While the decision to part ways was a downer for many committed Waking Ashland fans, we have been graced by the rise of two new bands—Big Surrender and We Shot the Moon.
We Shot the Moon includes former Waking Ashland lead singer Jonathan Jones, and is some of the most upbeat, catchy indie rock your ears will ever hear. Former Waking Ashland fans will definitely be pleased at this new project. We Shot the Moon is currently out on tour and will be releasing a new album on April 29th.
The main spotlight for the day, however, goes to Big Surrender. The band includes former Waking Ashland members Ryan Lallier, Nathan Harold, and Tim Very, and is fronted by Adam Murphy. Big Surrender could not sound any more perfect–each song is brilliantly put together and the lyrics couldn’t have been more genuine. You can tell this band has a much more mature sound to offer and it is undoubtedly the beginning of something incredibly special.
But maybe we’re just completely hypnotized by Adam’s soulful voice…
So we want to know what you guys think of Big Surrender. For those former Waking Ashland fans, do you like this new direction? Is anyone else as crazy in love with this band as we are? Take a listen to one of their demos (“My Love”) below, and let us know if you like it!

I think I’m surrendering to Big Surrender. I wasn’t sure if I’d enjoy them. But a good friend of mine said “Give them a try.” So I did. I must admit, I’m glad I did. They have a chill, relaxed vibe that is contagious! And they make “a simple life” the next hottest thing….Big ups to Big Surrender!
