Like hearing new music? Think mainstream is overrated? Want to be that really cool kid that liked a mainstream band way before they were even mainstream?
Almost A-List is a blog geared towards getting the word out there about talented new artists and bands on the rise. It’s not that we hate mainstream music…we realize that certain bands and artists are mainstream because they are catchy and talented (I guess now would be a good time to confess my love for Mariah Carey). But when you think about it, these artists had to start out somewhere! In a sense, Almost A-List does what business executives do when they want to find the next “big thing”-only we do it to help spread the word to you guys (not to make money off a band and their fans).
This blog is supposed to help you feel connected and stay up to date with rising artists and bands. Whether you’re in to rock, hip hop, ska, punk, indie, pop, or whatever other genre that has been made up to fit a style of music, we’re going to try to keep you up to date with what’s going on out there, and we’re going to try our best to help those rising bands and artists get the support they deserve.
Behind the Scenes
This site is the brainchild of two college students with who should probably be spending their time studying, but instead choose to spend it here developing this awesome community.
April is the voice of Almost A-List. She’s the one contacting all of the bands and writing most of the blogs. April always knows the latest music news, sometimes before it even happens. You’ll be hearing from her most often!
“Since high school, I’ve really been in to the underground music scene, but I’ve drifted away from it since entering college. I’m a pre-med biology major, which basically means I’m sucked into the competative world of science and have to put my love for music on the back burner. After my personal blog slowly turned into a premature version of this site, however, I realized that I love to share new music with people who actually care and are interested. Almost A-List is the best outlet for that.”
Jenn is the geek behind the scenes making sure the site is functioning properly and that we have all of our ducks in a row, technically at least. She’s responsible for the design of the site and most of the “business end” and all that good stuff.
“I have an addiction. I’m addicted to creating online content. I’ve been doing it for as long as I can remember (or at least as far back as 1998!). I hope to run a network of online content producers someday and this is my first step towards achieving that. In my offline time, I’m an Information Science major (read: I major in the Internet) and I’m the photography editor of The Cornell Daily Sun. That’s where I learn the ins and outs of publication and use that to make this site really awesome!”
